The actual global epidemiologic and epizootologic situation in influenza incidence among humans and animals points out an increased risk of a new strain formation. This strain would trigger a pandemic diffusion of human influenza. The pandemic is not avertable but it is controllable. We cannot stop it by common social intervention but we can retard its commencement. A specific readiness for prevention, diagnostics, therapy and adopted measures supervision as well as effective coordination and collaboration system on a national and international level play an important role in this process. In the case of its outbreak the substantial measure for human influenza pandemic control is to inform the public regularly, too.
