Premature sexual development is the common problem in girls. The development of secondary characteristics before the age of 8 in girls and 9 in boys is outside the normal range. In contrast to isolated premature thelarche, precocious puberty is accompanied with growth spurt and advanced bone age. Precocious puberty is categorised according to the levels of gonadotrophins into gonadotrophin-dependent (central) and independent (pseudopuberty).
