Attitudes to child´s pain have developed, but it must be held that the child perceives pain as well as an adult; his pain has the same pathophysiological mechanisms. The perception of pain is physiologically active already at the 24 weeks gestation. Knowledge about pain of children is in comparison to knowledge about pain of adults much more recent. Caregivers of children have the pain of children for a long time as a necessary evil, a byproduct of the disease, tests or injuries that the child perceives less, and therefore does not deserve attention. The aim of the present article is to define selected dimensions of postoperative pain of children.
