The purpose of this article is primarily to introduce the topic of conscientious objection to health care professionals. The authors explain existing legislators’ attitudes towards conscientious objection, describe its regulation in the Slovak republic and the options of patients to apply conscientious objection in cases of mandatory vaccination. Furthermore the authors analyse relevant foreign rulings on conscientious objection to mandatory vaccination. Finally they summarize courts’ reasoning and conclusions and formulate recommendations for medical practice.
