Subcutaneous administration of carbon dioxide (CO2) is an often used reflexive therapy which is effective in treatment of painful states and functional disorders of spine. It is aplicated subcutaneously to the painful region, acupuncture spots, or trigger points. Applied gas has to be sterile, chemically and biologically safe. In the following case report we describe a very rare case, when contravening of aseptic conditions in gas application and misdiagnosing can lead to serious and irreversible damage of patient health.
