Organic acidurias are one of the commonest but very heterogenous group of inborn errors of metabolism which are mostly caused by disorders of amino acids degradation (classical organic acidurias). Many of these disorders are treatable if diagnosed early. But in Slovakia, diagnostics is inadequate and many children still die without correct diagnosis. The authors present case reports of four children with methylmalonic and one with propionic acidurias demonstrating the early symptoms which can lead paediatricians and neonatologists to express suspicion of these diseases. The aim of our paper is to increase detection, save life and markedly improve quality of life for patients with organic acidurias in our country.
