Treatment of post-operative pain

Miriama Madajová, Peter Kaščák

Treatment of post-operative pain is an integral part of each surgical procedure. Poorly treated postoperative pain can have serious health, psychological, and social consequences. Nowadays, the principles of balanced analgesia that use different classes of analgesics and pain management techniques are preferred, ideally with the components of regional analgesia. Good treatment results with minimisation of side effects contributed to the introduction of an ongoing consulting service in the healthcare facilities – Acute Pain Service – APS.
