Authors suggest a review of prognostic relevant histomorphological indices in prostatic carcinoma which are current recommended to record in a bioptic report. These indices may be divided into a.) general factors such as histologic type, Gleason score, perineural infiltration, lymphovascular invasion, these are evaluated in specimens from needle biopsy, transurethral resection of prostate and radical prostatectomy, and b.) specific factors for quantification of tumorous infiltration in individual types of materials especially criteria related to local invasion, evaluation of surgical margins and staging in radical prostatectomy specimens.
