The incidence of cardiovascular diseases has been increasing. One of factors that can play a role for cardiovascular diseases is the weather. The article gives a brief review of the biometrology and presents results of the research of foreign and Slovak researchers. Monitoring of onset and course of selected cardiovascular diseases (acute myocardial infarction, sudden vascular and cerebral episodes and hypertensive crises) related to meteorological situation proves that under some weather conditions the occurrence of diseases significantly decreases or increases. On the basis of the research medico-meteorological forecast methodology has been worked out. Such forecasts are prepared daily and the benefit of the use in medical practice is reduction of both complications and occurrence of diseases, including cardiovascular ones.
