Acute heart failure (AHF) is a syndrome with a high incidence and a serious prognosis. The objective of the treatment of AHF is foremost stabilization of a critical state enabling performance of subsequent therapeutic measures which can improve patient´s long-term prognosis. In spite of the increasing importance of the non-pharmacologic treatment pharmacotherapy remains an essential part of the AHF treatment. The article is a brief review of the contemporary AHF pharmacotherapy.
