Significant mitral regurgitation (MR) is a severe disease affecting nearly 10% of people over 75 years of age. It can be associated
with left ventricular dysfunction, severe symptoms of heart failure and reduced survival. While surgery remains the
treatment method of choice in low-risk patients with degenerative type of disease, transcatheter procedure with the MitraClip
System is emerging as a safe and effective therapeutic option in high-risk patients with functional MR.
