Eosinophilic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract occurs in primary eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases, as well as secondary to other diseases. Primary eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders are defined as disorders that selectively affect the gastrointestinal tract with eosinophil-rich inflammation in the absence of known causes for eosinophilia (eg. hypereosinophilic syndrome, drugs, parasitic infections, malignancy and inflammatory bowel diseases). Authors present ethiopathogenesis, clinical picture, diagnostic and management of primary eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders.
