It occurs mostly in patients with intracardiac predispositions and presents with heterogenous clinical picture. It affects dominantly left sided valvular structures or their prosthetic replacements. The early identification and treatment of the infection, exclusion and adequate treatment of primary and secondary inflammatory focuses altogether with appropriate timing and extent of surgical therapy should lead towards the improvement of the therapeutical results.
