Congenital diaphragmatic hernia is a serious birth defect. The incidence is 1 : 2000
to 1 : 5500 live-born neonates. The diaphragm is affected primarily but the major
factor of morbidity and mortality in newborn babies is lung development disorder.
The article discusses the definition, aetiopathogenesis, diagnostics, prenatal therapy,
clinical signs, prognosis and surgical treatment of this disease. According to this
knowledge the authors tried to establish the principles of management of pregnancy
in foetuses with a diaphragmatic hernia in the prenatal and perinatal period.
