Current methods of the foetal monitoring during pregnancy and birth including intermittent
auscultation, cardiotocography and additive methods have different limits
and they are not optimal for an exact diagnosis of foetal distress. New experimental
methods were developed to improve the current diagnosis of intrauterine
foetal status. The article describes two of them – foetal magnetocardiography and
analysis of the foetal heart rate variability by non-linear dynamics.
