Tumors of the small intestine are rare in comparison with other gastrointestinal tumors. This may be influenced by shorter contact of small intestinal mucosa with possible carcinogens, bacterial flora of the small intestine, pH or by immunological factors. The well-know precancerous conditions enable observation of high risk individuals. The clinical symptoms of the small intestine tumors are not distinctive. The malignant tumors have more expressive manifestations. The authors present classification of the small intestine tumors in the view of current clinico-pathological knowledge and they urge first of all to latter designs, estimations and terminology of neuroendocrine tumors. They offer survey of modern investigative methods for superior interception of benign or malignant tumoral lesions.
