Upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UPG) is a life-threatening complication of gastrointestinal diseases. Even bleeding is
a common symptom, different causes of gastrointestinal bleeding are significantly different. Peptic ulcer remains the
most common cause of UGB, representing approximately half of all cases. Oesophageal varicose and gastritis, gastric
carcinoma and benign tumours of the digestive tract are also common causes of UGB. Not only the gastrointestinal
tract itself, but also lesions in adjacent organs and systemic diseases contribute to bleeding. Together with less frequent
GIT diseases leading to bleeding, it formed a complete mosaic of possible causes of blood loss via the digestive tract.
