The aim of the publication is the explanation of CT colonography basics as one of possible investigation imaging methods of pathological structures in the colon, especially polyps and tumours. If CT colonography is technically correct, it can detect large and medium-sized polyps with sensitivity similar to colonoscopy. CT colonography is a non-invasive method with less risk than colonoscopy. The significant benefit of CT colonography is its ability to reveal extracolonic findings. The basic precondition of good quality CT examination is an adequate preparation of a patient.
