Despite several international and domestic guidelines for the treatment of patients with arterial hypertension in either
primary, as well as in secondary prevention we are not sure about the targets of blood pressures to which antihypertensive
treatment should be guided. In the evidence-based medicine we rely mainly on the results of four randomised
clinical trials, from those three were performed without the influence of the pharmaceutical industry. This paper brings
the current preventive medicine picture to the blood pressure targets.
