Functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract are among the most common gastrointestinal diseases. They affect almost 50 % of world population. A significant proportion of them suffer from a functional disorder of stomach and duodenum. These are characterized by a chronic long term reduction in life quality of affected patients. They suffer from typical symptoms indicative for GI disorders, thus detailed and targeted history is often more beneficial than the use of expensive and challenging examination instruments. Such instruments tend to be necessary to rule out organic diseases. Unlike most organic functional disorders, they do not shorten patient’s life span, but rather significantly ruin their quality of life. As they more frequently affect active and hardworking people, who are often oversensitive with the sense for pedant performance of assigned tasks, their treatment besides symptomatic medicaments also requires also change of life style, dietary habits, but also sometimes the psychological treatment, help and control is needed, together with psychological assistance and occasional psychiatric treatment.
