Mesenteric ischaemia is a rather infrequent cause of abdominal pain with a strikingly high mortality rate. Authors hereby
present case reports of two patients suffering from severe abdominal pain, whom critical stenosis in splanchnic circulation
was diagnosed. In the second case report they point out to the fact that mesenteric ischaemia is not only a diagnosis
of the elderly. The mainstay of therapy is revascularisation of the affected vessels.
