The spleen is the largest lymphatic organ of the human body that combines several functions. It is responsible for the
immune response, it forms a reservoir of blood, and there is also a process of elimination of the overstretched thrombocytes
and erythrocytes done. Malignant neoplasms of the spleen can be divided into primary (non-haematological
and haematological tumours) and secondary metastatic lesions. Due to the anatomical structure of the spleen, a splenectomy
is a choice of the surgeon, which can be safely performed also laparoscopically. Postoperative complications
include bleeding, subphrenic abscess, portal vein thrombosis or post-splenectomy sepsis.
