The number of people with metabolic syndrome closely associated with NAFLD has been increasing due to the growing number of people with excessive energetic intake and inadequate energy output. NAFLD is a liver disorder where we can classify simple steatosis and fat accumulation in the liver with inflammation process, so-called NASH. The second subunit has already fundamental importance as after long-term inflammation it results in the development of the excessive fibrotic process in the liver and its final consequence is the origination of cirrhosis with all its negative consequences and complications. According to some authors in close future NASH will become the main cause of cirrhosis origination and this fact should deserve bigger attention of the medical expertise and investigation which would result in the finding of effective NAFLD treatment, predominantly for NASH. Not only regarding the restriction of hepatic cirrhosis, but also to prevent non-hepatic NASH manifestations where all manifestations of metabolic syndrome, mainly a cardiovascular disease, belong. They are much more frequently the cause of mortality than hepatic complications themselves. This fact suggests that NAFLD and primarily NASH is more likely a complex multisystemic disease related to metabolic syndrome than just a mere disease of the liver.
