Metabolic syndrome is one of the most spread pathological conditions influencing the state of health of the population. The most frequently it relates to cardiovascular diseases, but at present, it undoubtedly plays an important role also in the development of gastroenterological or tumorous diseases. An association between metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty pancreas disease has been repeatedly described. However, the relation between metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty pancreas disease is less known. Obesity and endocrine pancreatic insufficiency presenting as diabetes mellitus Type 2 are mostly typical for these patients. The diagnosis is based on imaging methods. In our pilot study, we examined the patients with the proved diagnosis of metabolic syndrome disease. The results point out that triglycerides might play a basic role in the inducing metabolic non-alcoholic fatty pancreas disease.
