Though there are frequent cases of overdose by insulin, reports of the course of severe insulin intoxication in non diabetic patients are rare. We present a case of a 33-year-old non diabetic female patient who self-administered subcutaneously (s.c.) 1 200 units of insulin aspart (Novorapid) as a suicidal attempt. The course of hospital treatment and monitoring is presented. The need and dosage of continual parenteral administering of glucose is reported. After 4 hrs of hospitalization a concentrated solution of glucose was administered perorally (p.o) Initial complications of treatment are described concerning electrolyte disbalance accompanied by seizure.
