For many years a potential relationship of increased acid uric to many clinical conditions was acknowledged in internal
medicine. However, during last two decades a significant association is also confirmed with cardiovascular diseases
and increased mortality. Nowadays we have enough data, that an increase of the acid uric level represents a useful biomarker,
which also enables the clinician to guide a preventive approach to the patient at risk.
