Travellers´ diarrhoea remains a major health problem, contributing to significant morbidity and disability. Persons, who travel from industrialised countries to developing countries of tropical and semi-tropical world, are the individuals who experience travellers´ diarrhoea. The high-risk regions are Tropical Africa, Latin America and Southern Asia. The most important causes of illness are bacteria, especially enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli, the rest includes viruses, parasites and unknown aetiology.
