Adenomatous colonic polyps are probably the most common neoplastic findings during colonoscopic examination and represent a precancerous state. As it shows not only adenomatous polyps, but also hyperplastic polyps whether in the polypous syndromes or even in IBD have their malignant potential. Therefore, it emphasizes on the systemic search and removal of polyps. It clearly shows the need for more streamlining and rationalizing the endoscopic examination, especially after the previous polypectomy. Stratification of patients into groups with low and increased risk according to the number, size and histological findings of polyps, provides a relatively easy way to determine the date of the next endoscopic control.
