Patients with Barrett’s oesophagus (BE) have an increased risk of oesophageal adenocarcinoma. The aim of the surveillance program is early detection of Barretts esophagus related neoplasia. The article summarizes the classification of BE from the division according to the length of the segment (short and long segment) to the current Prague CM classification. Newer classification systems are detecting intraepithelial neoplasia using the modern enhancement endoscopy (magnifying endoscopy, narrow band imaging and autofluorescence) are not yet achieved clinical use.
