Schwannoma of the stomach is a rare gastrointestinal tumor of neurogenic origin growing from plexus myentericus Auerbachi or from Meissner´s plexus. It is a slowly growing capsulated tumor consisting of schwannoma cells in collagenous matrix. It represents only 0.2 % of all gastric tumors and 4 % of all benign gastric tumors. Schwannoma of the stomach mostly grows asymptomatically or it is manifested by bleeding episode into the stomach. Authors present a case report of a 46-year-old female patient with schwannoma of the stomach, clinically asymptomatic, course of diagnostics, differential diagnostics and surgical therapy of the rare finding of submucous tumor of the stomach. Histological examination revealed unusual picture of spindlecellular mesemchymal neoplasm of the stomach that was by immunohistochemical analysis strongly positive for presentation of S-100 proteins with low expression of antigens CD 34, CD 117 and desmin corresponding with diagnosis of Schwannoma of the stomach.
